This is a small conceptual design painted in gouache for a larger Art Deco Style Golf poster of the King’s Course, Gleneagles by the late Ken Reed. It features elements typical of my father’s gouache paintings. Light swirling clouds are expertly painted with lively flowing brush strokes using just three shades of grey and a soft, gentle blue. Some of the sky colours are repeated in the building on the left and in the clothing of the figures. The golfers provide a focal point and your eye begins to pick out the undulating course in the middle distance. In many ways, this is a more painterly style poster with some loose, accomplished brush strokes describing the helpful foreground shadow.
