The surface of American Ash hardwood can be easily cleaned due to its fine pore structure and straight grain. Making it less susceptible to water penetration than some other hardwoods. It is often used for tables and chopping boards. It also has an end grain to die for! How To Best Maintain Your Ash Chopping Board Wash your wooden chopping board in warm soapy water. Rinse the board and dry it with a soft cloth. Fill a large bowl with hot water. Place a bottle of mineral oil into the bowl and let it sit for about 10 minutes or until the bottle feels warm to the touch. Apply a generous amount of the warmed mineral oil onto a soft cloth. Wipe the mineral oil across the entire surface of your wooden chopping board. Let the mineral oil soak into the chopping board for approximately six hours. Remove any excess oil with a soft cloth.
