Description Inside the former Midland Railway’s steam engine shed Bradford circa 1966. ‘Many Hands Make Light Work’ shows Fairburn 2-6-4 tank locomotive, number 42140, being turned on the turntable. Bradford Engine Shed was located in Manningham, Bradford in West Yorkshire. The depot was built to provide steam engines for services leaving Bradford Forster Square station and freight trains from Valley Road. It was also responsible for the sub-sheds at Keighley and Ilkley with itself being a sub-shed of Holbeck, Leeds. Number 42140 was built a Derby loco works in 1950 and was scrapped in 1967.
