THE WIMBLEDON BARN DANCE https://cliffordessex.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/The-Wimbledon-Barn-Dance-for-mp3.mp3 So Morley played his banjo at Wimbledon some time in the 1890s! In those days, a barn dance would have been popular, and this one is typical of the genre. Using the keys of G, D, and C major it is written in twelve-eight time, — that is, four dotted crotchets to a bar, although there are very few of those, with most of the music consisting of a series of rippling quavers. This is probably one of Morley’s early successes because it has the fourth string tuned to D, and he would have been using a six or seven-stringed banjo at the time. Hardcopies £3.00 plus postage.
