This is noticeable on the George Morris recording where, apart from the Introduction which is marked Andante, he plays the piece at a tremendous speed and has to introduce two extra unmarked repeats to make up the playing time. Even the most dedicated banjoist can become a little bored with constant repetition, but amateurs don’t have to play all the repeats, (and certainly not prestissimo), so they, and any listeners will be sure to derive a great deal of enjoyment from this classic Morley solo.
