PRELUDE and BOURREE These are the first two pieces in a Suite of six titles written in the style of an 18th century French Suite. The Suite is in C major, a natural key which sounds well on the banjo and, in keeping with the principal of a suite, the various pieces share some common thematic material. The Prélude is a short, slow piece, but the Bourrée is somewhat more animated, and embodies the chord structure on which the Suite is based.
