Description Maunsell designed Southern Railway ‘Schools’ Class locomotive No.925 ‘Cheltenham’ exits a tunnel on the Hastings – Tonbridge main line c1938. The Schools class steam locomotive was designed by Richard Maunsell for the Southern Railway. The class was a cut down version of his Lord Nelson class but also incorporated details from his King Arthur class. It was the last locomotive in the UK designed with a 4-4-0 wheel arrangement and was the most powerful 4-4-0 engine ever produced in Europe. Original painting is for sale. Acrylics on canvas.
